Two people arrested for possessing fake money amounting to MK141,000

Police in Dowa have arrested two men for allegedly being found in possession of K141,000 all in K1,000 fake bank notes.

Dowa Police Station Publicist Sub-Inspector Richard Kaponda confirmed of the arrest in an interview with the press.

Kaponda said the police received a tip from two sex workers that the duo was sleeping with sex workers at the bars around Dowa Boma, paying them the fake Malawian currency for the service.

Kaponda has identified the two suspects as Aaron Nkhata, 23, and Batson Kantepa, 24 both from Kantepa Village Traditional Authority Chiwere in Dowa.

The suspects will appear in court soon.
