Man crushed to death under tractor wheels

ZAMBIA – A-40 year old man of Chimsoro farm in Zambi, Mkushi has died after being run over by a tractor which was being driven by an inexperienced driver.

The accident happened yesterday at 13:55 hrs along Chimsoro gravel road within Chimsoro farms in Mkushi involving a Case International tractor 7250 unregistered and trailer.

The accident happened when the inexperienced driver of the tractor identified as Vernon Muchelemba aged 27 years lost control of the tractor and careered off the road.

Deputy Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga has confirmed in a statement that the tractor then went into the bush and that during the process of struggling with it one passenger identified as Bonnie Chola aged 40 years a general worker at the same farm fell off the tractor and was ran over by the right wheel.

Hamoonga said the victim sustained head injuries and died on the spot while his body is lying in the Mkushi Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem and the driver has been detained to help with investigations.
