Border demonstrations scheduled for August 26

The Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) has revealed that the next demonstrations will be held at all border posts in the country and airports from August 26 to 30.

HRDC chairperson Timothy Mtambo confirmed of the development in an interview with the media in the capital Lilongwe.

Mtambo said protesters will close the airports and borders posts to force Justice Jane Ansah to resign from her position as Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) chairperson.

They say the closure of airports will follow since Ansah has not resigned.
