Blantyre to Host Mr. and Miss Albinism Next Year

Organizers of the first ever Mr and Miss Albinism beauty pageant and talent show have expressed their satisfaction with the coulorful event they had maintaining their position that they event will be held annually.

The event which took place at Bingu International Conference Centre (BICC), was graced by several high profile people including First lady Gertrude Mutharika,

The Mr and Miss Albinism is spearheaded by Association of Persons with Albinism (Apam).

Apam programmes lead and event organising committee focal person, Peter Kayenda, said they would be rotating the event and that, next year, they would take it to Blantyre.

“As we indicated last time, the event is annual. It is fixed. As a matter of fact, we have already started planning for next year’s event. Zambian musician B1 will be back in the company of Yellowman,” Kayenda said.

First Lady Mutharika: Crowning Miss Albinism in Lilongwe

B1 made a special appearance at the event before proceeding to the launch of Lulu’s album Better in Your Arms at the same venue but different hall.

The event saw the presence of judges Godfrey Mphatswe, a guest judge from South Africa, Tracey Chigwenjere, crowning guest, who is the second princess for the Miss Albinism Zimbabwe 2019, Brenda Mudzimu, guest judge from Zimbabwe and Jennifer Madiriza, guest (Miss Albinism Zimbabwe Trust).

The 2019 Mr Albinism is Bennet Phunyanya while the Miss Albinism is Chikondi Kanjadza, with musician Godfrey Phunyanya triumphing as Mr Talent.

Mr and Miss Albinism went away with K1 million each and a laptop while Mr Talent went away with K500,000.

Hilda Macheso and Fergus Makamo were crowned First Princess and Prince, respectively.
