The constitutional court has fined the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) lawyers for falling to adhere to the set guidelines aimed to speed up the elections case.

The case delayed to start by 90 minutes today as MCP lawyers were supposed to submit supplementary sworn statements.

The court has since ordered them to pay K900,000 by Monday next week.

The party has also withdrawn five witnesses who were expected to testify in the case.

The Attorney General Kalekeni Kaphale today continues to cross examine the party’s third witness Peter Lackson Chimangeni.
