In a bid to save time in the on-going presidential election case, Malawi Congress Party (MCP) lawyers have withdrawn one of their witnesses Richard Chimwendo Banda.

Chimwendo Banda was supposed to come in to testify after Eisenhower Mkaka who is testifying in court at the moment.

MCP lawyers have also asked the court to give its ruling on an application by Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) and President Peter Mutharika lawyers to stop MCP witness Daudi Sulemani from using gadgets in court.

Speaking for MCP Mordecai Msisha said the court will have to give the ruling before Sulemani comes as his evidence depends on the gadgets.

MCP leader Lazarus Chakwera and UTM President Saulos Chilima are seeking nullification of the presidential results in which the electoral body declared Peter Mutharika a Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) candidate winner of the disputed polls.
