Chanthunya’s lawyer Michael Goba Chipeta pulls out

Lawyer for Misozi Chanthunya, Michael Goba Chipeta on Thursday discharged himself from the murder case.

Chipeta announced this when Chanthunya appeared before the High Court in Zomba to answer charges of murdering his girlfriend Linda Gasa, a fourth year student at Malawi College of Accountancy (MCA) in Blantyre in 2011.

The lawyer, Michael Goba Chipeta, made the decision after High Court Judge, Ruth Chinangwa, ruled that the state must start parading its witness.

However, Chipeta argued that he cannot represent Chanthunya anymore because he has just been introduced to the case two days ago.

Meanwhile the case is scheduled to resume this morning.
