As tension is high in the country following an announcement that on February 3 the constitutional Court will deliver its verdict on the presidential elections case the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) Livingstonia Synod has advised its institution to observe a holiday on the day.

This has been said in a press statement made available to Face of Malawi which was signed by the synod’s Deputy General Secretary Brian Kamwendo.

“To this end the synod would like to advise all Head of Synod Institutions to observe a holiday on this day (February 3, 2020),” read part of the statement.

The statement further continues by asking all its members to continue praying for peace and tranquility of the country.

United Transformation Movement (UTM) President Saulos Chilima and his counterpart Lazarus Chakwera of Malawi Congress Party (MCP) are seeking nullification of the May 21, 2019 presidential elections which saw President Peter winner.
