HRDC Announces ‘MEC Shutdown’, Calls’ Malawians to Buy Locks to Seal Off MEC Offices

Organizers of Anti-Ansah demonstrations Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) have announced that on Thursday, February 13, 2020 is the day they will demonstrations against Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) chairperson Jane Ansah and all MEC commissioners.

The plans to seal off MEC offices have been revealed by HRDC Chairperson Timothy Mtambo.

According to Mtambo, Ansah’s refusal to step down is an attempt to mess with the next presidential elections.

Mtambo has further stressed that the coalition will not relent until they see Ansah out of MEC premises.

He further added that Constitution Court judgment is a clear indication that the current MEC is not trustworthy.

Mtambo is calling on Malawians to buy locks so that they seal off all MEC offices.
