President Peter Mutharika has set up a Special Cabinet Committee on Coronavirus being headed by Minister of Health, Jappie Mhango.
Among others, the Committee will assess the impact of the virus and oversee a cross-government response to its threat.
Conspicuously missing is the Information Ministry widely regarded as crucial particularly in disseminating information on crucial emerging issues surrounding the virus. Health authorities have repeatedly maintained making strides in training health personnel and intensifying screening of people entering the country through airports and border posts in case ofany recorded case.
