Former MDF commander Vincent Nundwe officially handover leadership to new boss

Date:

Malawi Defence Force (MDF) outgoing Commander General Vincent Nundwe (retired) has officially handed over leadership to the new MDF Commander, General Peter Namathanga.

The ceremony took place today at Kamuzu Barracks in the capital Lilongwe.

Speaking after handing over the mantle Nundwe said he is leaving the MDF knowing he has served Malawi better and without grudges.

He has encouraged the new Commander, General Peter Namathanga to be diligent when executing his duties.

President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika fired Nundwe two weeks ago and replaced him with Namathanga.

The firing attracted mixed reactions with many arguing that Mutharika fired Nundwe for standing with Malawians during protests.
