Zimbabwe Coronavirus Patient Fully Recovers

In a very welcome development, Zimbabwe’s third coronavirus (Covid-19) patient has fully recovered after he tested negative for the disease twice.

Even more welcome is that the 3 members of the man’s family have already tested negative for the disease and will need to be tested again so that they can be fully cleared according to the guidelines of the World Health Organisation (WHO).

Saul Sakudya of Zimre Park, Mashonaland East, was diagnosed with the coronavirus when he returned home after travelling to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on a business trip.

Nyakudya’s wife and two children also tested positive for the coronavirus as well. After the four family members were confirmed to be positive, they were confined to their home by the health authorities for quarantine.

However, five other family members tested negative for the disease and there were fears that they would contract the coronavirus as well since the family was using the same ablution facilities.

This was solved when First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa donated portable bathrooms, toilets and sanitisers to the family.

Sakudya has since recovered from the disease and has been cleared by the health authorities after undergoing the requisite two tests. His wife and two children are waiting to see if they will be cleared by the doctors. They all tested negative when the first test was conducted.

In an interview with Zimapers Television Network (ZTN) following his recovery, Sakudya said,

I would like to thank God that I have fully recovered.

It was difficult to live under one roof with five negative children when four of the family were positive.

Sakudya also volunteered to help the health authorities in spreading awareness about the disease. Sakudya added,

I am willing to work with NGOs, Government and private companies to disseminate information on how to deal with the coronavirus.
