Woman’s Body Found Decomposing At Boyfriend’s House During Lockdown in S.A

South African police are currently investigating the case in which a 30-year-old woman was found dead and in a state of decomposition at her boyfriend’s house in Botshabelo township, Free State.

According to reports, the deceased, Dikeledi Dieketseng (32), had been missing for three days after having left home with her boyfriend, whose identity had not been revealed at the time of publishing the article.

Following her disappearance, the woman’s family visited her boyfriend’s house in search of her but only found the premises locked. When the family gained entrance into the house after getting assistance from the suspect’s uncle, they were shocked to discover Dieketseng’s body lying lifeless on the bed and already rotting.

Dieketseng’s boyfriend was nowhere to be found and the family reported the matter to the police.

The suspect, a former security guard, who had been on the run for 12 days was only arrested after police received a tip-off. He was caught at his friend’s house on Thursday.

Speaking to Daily Sun soon after the suspect’s arrest, the deceased’s sister, Mapaseka Masakala (30) said she was relieved that the criminal had been arrested.

‘Our prayers have been answered, we had hope that my sister’s evil boyfriend’s run would soon come to an end. What he did was senseless and we hope that the law does its job and gave him a life sentence. I have not been able to sleep after discovering my sister’s dead body last week. At least we as a family would be at peace knowing the suspect is behind bars’

Police spokesman Brigadier Motantsi Makhele confirmed the arrest.

‘A 33-year-old suspect is in custody for the alleged murder of his 32-year-old girlfriend. Police were summoned to a shack in Section L, Botshabelo on 14 April 2020 after Dikeledi Masakala aged 32 was found dead on the bed.

‘A case of murder was opened for investigation, and the boyfriend was apprehended in the early hours of Thursday 23 April 2020 sleeping at his friend’s place at Section U, Botshabelo. He is expected to appear before Botshabelo Magistrates’ Court soon. Police appeals to community members to report missing people immediately to their nearest police station,’ said Makhele.
