The Human Rights Defenders Coalition is this morning meeting ministers of Health and Information over the ministerial allowance dubbed controversy.

Over the past weeks social media platforms were awash with a leaked video clip showing Minister of Health and Population Jappie Mhango and Minister of Information Mark Botomani discussing allowance issue while on the podium.

The two were unaware that the microphone was on when they discussed how to lie on the hefty allowances they receive on daily basis.

The video clip has attracted mixed reactions with many calling for the immediate firing of the two Ministers.
At the meeting HRDC is represented by Dr. Billy Mayaya, Andrew Salima, Madalitso Mwenda, Macdonald Sembereka, Ali Mwachande and Michael Kaiyatsa.

HRDC maintains its stand that the two must resign.

Meanwhile, the meeting between HRDC and two ministers to do with Covid-19 allowances has been moved from Ministry of Health headquarters to Central Office of Information.
The meeting had initially started in camera but the HRDC leaders demanded that the media be part of the indaba.
