Ndanga says it’s up to Mutharika to pick Atupele as runningmate

Secretary General for the United Democratic Front (UDF) Ken Ndanga has said it’s up to President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika to pick Atupele Muluzi as his runningmate in the fresh Presidential polls scheduled for July 2, 2020 or not.

Ndanga said this in an interview with the press at Mount Soche International Conference Centre ahead of the presentation of nomination papers by President Mutharika who is a torchbearer for DPP-UDF alliance.

In the interview Ndanga said the runningmate for DPP-UDF alliance will be known today afternoon.

“As you are aware, the prerogative to choose the runningmate lies in the hands of the torchbearer and in this case our torchbearer is President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika and we will accept any decision that he will make,” said Ndanga.

Turning to the event, Ndanga said UDF is fully prepared and will adhere to all measures set by Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) on COVID-19.

Ndanga said UDF as a party will fully support President Mutharika in the fresh Presidential election.
