Covid-19 ministerial committee has refuted claims that ministers are pocketing K450, 000 per day even for foreign trips in the course of fighting the novel coronavirus.
This has been communicated on Tuesday when the Cabinet committee engaged officials from Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) over the matter.
Minister of Information Jappie Mhango insisted that no minister can get the sum of K450, 000 as an allowance.
Mhango added that Cabinet Ministers are entitled to K70,000 per night if they are not booked into a hotel. Where they are booked into a hotel, they get K5,000
Mhango further added that the leaked document with allowance figures was doctored and that the original document came from Disaster Management Ministry Principal Secretary Wilson Moleni.
