Black Lives Matter Protesters Turn White House Fencing Into A Giant Monument To Racial Justice

Since George Floyd’s killing, Black Lives Matter protests have sparked all over the globe, with thousands of people of different demographics demanding racial and social justice.

In Washington, demonstrators have raised an 8-foot memorial fence around the White House, spanning approximately 1.7 miles.

BLM protesters are using the fence as a monument of racial justice.

They have filled it with signs and placards supporting the protests, naming people who have been killed at the hands of the police.

Instead of violently voicing their dissatisfaction, demonstrators made the best of the situation by putting their appeals on the wall.

Amongst the signs, apart from the ‘Black Lives Matter’ and ‘No Justice No Peace’, there are more creative slogans such as ‘Racism is an insult to God’s creativity’ and ‘Racism is so American that when you protest it, people think you are protesting America’.

The length of the memorial fence is incredible – roughly 1.7 miles, as The Washington Post reports. In fact, only two parts of the White House perimeter, on the northeast and northwest corners, don’t have additional fencing and concrete barriers.

As Upworthy reports, the fencing had also prompted a viral ‘#BabyGate‘ hashtag, as people used it to poke fun at President Trump’s toddler-like tantrums and need for attention. Currently, the wall is serving as an enormous monument for BLM protesters, expressing their appeals in a powerful way.

What’s more, the U.S. president has also been slammed for hiding out in a bunker during protests outside the White House. Trump was rushed to the hideout on June 1, after a group of protesters breached temporary fences set up near the Treasury Department.

As CNN reports, according to the Secret Service, the building of a fence around the White House was ‘necessary security measures’.

However, demonstrators took it as another opportunity to voice their demands for racial justice and support the black community.
