Speaker Catherine Gotani Hara, who is also Malawi Congress Party’s deputy Secretary General has invaded Mchinji District campaigning for Tonse Alliance torchbearer Dr. Lazarus Chakwera ahead of the fresh Presidential polls.

Hara stopped at Nkhwazi Trading Centre before proceeding to Misale Trading Centre.

In his welcome remarks, Traditional Authority Mavwere says people in his area are ready to listen to the developmental plans the alliance has for them.

UTM Regional Governor Samson Mithenga says the date that people have been waiting for is near, adding that come next Tuesday, they will go and vote.
Mithenga then demonstrated to the crowd on how to cast their vote.

Taking her turn, member of Parliament for the area, Agness Mkusa Nkhoma, says the area has been lagging behind in terms of development.

Mkusa says most people in the area are farmers but have nowhere to sell their farm produce as government owned grain marketer Admarc is no longer reliable.
