Bushiri congratulates Chakwera, Chilima

Enlighten Christian Gathering (ECG) Church Prophet Shepherd has congratulated the newly elected President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera and his Vice Dr. Saulos Chilima.

Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) on Saturday night declared Chakwera of Tonse Alliance as winner of the fresh Presidential polls after outclassing former President Professor Peter Mutharika, torchbearer for UDF-DPP alliance.

Chakwera got 2.6 million votes against 1.7 million votes which Mutharika amassed.

Writing on his official facebbok page Bushiri promised to work with the new government.

“I would like to congratulate His Excellency, Dr. Lazarus Chakwera for being elected as the 6th President of the Republic of Malawi, along with the Vice President, Right Honorable Dr. Saulos Chilima. May God’s grace and wisdom be with you as you lead the nation. God bless you and God bless Malawi!,” wrote Bushiri.

Bushiri has since urged Malawians to support the new administration.
