State vice president Saulos Chilima and his wife Mary Chilima have tested negative for the novel coronavirus.
This according to a statement written on Chilima’s official Facebook page who said they (Chilima and wife) will repeat the test in two weeks as advised by health personnel.
“Yesterday, Madam Mary Chilima and I went for COVID-19 tests and we both tested NEGATIVE. We will repeat the tests in two weeks as guided by the health personnel,” Chilima said.
This follows the death of Chilima’s personal assistant Bessie Nsambo who succumbed to coronavirus on July 5.
He therefore urged all people to go for covid-19 testing and follow all the preventive measures to halt the spread of the virus.
“We urge you to do the same. Together let us fight and defeat Covid-19,” he said.
He added; “Let us all do our part by washing hands regularly, practicing respiratory hygiene, keeping social distance and most importantly by getting tested for COVID-19.”
Meanwhile, Malawi has more than 1, 500 coronavirus cases.
