Police Arrest People in The UTM Office Arson Attack

Reports reaching this publication indicate that police have arrested people suspected of torching the United Transformation (UTM) offices in Lilongwe which claimed lives of three people of the same family.

National police deputy publicist Thomek Nyaude confirmed of the arrests of suspects.

However, Nyaude could not divulge more details arguing that investigations on the matter are still underway.

Preceding to fresh elections, unknown people petrol bombed the UTM family and the Tambala family, Husband, wife and one child succumbed to the attack.

The family was housed in one part of the building.

Various stakeholders, including UTM and Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) demanded justice for the Tambala family.
