Men on the run after impregnating sisters aged 15 and 17

Kenyan police have launched a hunt for two men in their 30s who impregnated two sisters aged 15 and 17.

The elder sister is a Form One student whereas the younger one is a Class Eight pupil, k24 Digital reports.

The 17-year-old girl is six months pregnant, whereas her 15-year-old sibling is one-and-a-half months pregnant.

The younger of the two siblings, who is the fourth born in a family of seven, told K24 Digital that immediately after schools were ordered closed in mid-March 2020 following the outbreak of COVID-19 in Kenya, her male neighbours began sexually preying on her.

She said that in the last five months, she was defiled by two men.

“One of them, a neighbour, used to defile me in the bathroom, after which, he would give me Ksh100,” said the 15-year-old.

“Another one, a taxi driver whose name is James, used to defile me in his car. He would also give me Ksh100 after the act,” she added.

The teenager claims it is James, a married man in his mid-30s, who impregnated her.

“One day, when he was parking his car on returning home, I confronted him and told him that he was responsible for my pregnancy. He did not deny. However, since that day, I have never seen him. We are told that he relocated to a far-off land,” said the minor.

Her elder sister, on the other hand, conceived in March. A different man was responsible for her pregnancy.

“He used to give me between Ksh50 and Ksh100 after sex,” said the third born in a family of seven.

“After conceiving in March, I kept the secret from my mother and the father of my unborn baby. However in April, I decided to tell the man who had defiled me that I was carrying his child. He denied responsibility. Since that day, he has not been picking my calls,” said the 17-year-old.

The girls’ mother engages in menial work for a living.

“Mum was so disappointed in us after we conceived. She even said she will pick our three younger siblings and vanish, never to be seen again,” the younger of the two expectant sisters said.

A gender rights group in Kiambu County has vowed to follow up on the matter till justice for the two underage girls is gotten.

Police say they have launched a hunt for the two suspects whose whereabouts remain unknown.
