Namadingo Meets Blantyre City Council Boss

A renowned Blantyre musician Patience Namadingo has today met the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Blantyre City Council (BCC) Alfred Chanza for the first time.

The meeting of the duo comes after Namadingo had earlier complained of the poor service he had received from BCC when he requested for a venue to host fundraising for fellow musician William Kachigamba who is in need of money for his cancer treatment in Zambia.

On Tuesday, Namadingo posed as a statue at Ginnery Corner collecting funds from well-wishers to carter for Kachigamba’s medical bills but the event started a little late due to hiccups he faced from the BCC.

Writing on his Facebook page, Namadingo said the Chanza apologized for the delay he encountered on his planned event by his office and promised to work things out on how the council can handle best information received as he (Chanza) has learnt a lot from the incident.

“We talked of how we can work together in the city of Blantyre on other projects. As an office they have also learnt from this incident on how they can rework the process of how information is received and handled by the council,” said Namadingo.

According to the Mapulani star, Chanza was never given his letter as it was stuck at the receptionist desk.

“I was told that he actually never got our letter on his desk. The receptionist on the front desk forgot to handover to the next receptionist on shift. Therefore our letter was grounded on the reception till the day we were desperate for their authorization,” said the holder of Machesi.

The message of Namadingo’s needs reached Chanza on his way to Lilongwe and directed the council to issue the authorization immediately.

Namadingo managed to raise over K3 million which was the targeted amount for Kachigamba to receive medical treatment for cancer in Zambia.
