In a shocking incident reported from West Bengal, two sisters belonging to a tribal community were allegedly gang-raped in Rajganj area of Jalpaiguri district.

The siblings aged 14 and 16 years old later consumed poison after reaching home. One of the sisters has succumbed, while another is battling for life at the hospital.  The girls were missing for two days.

Meanwhile, police said they have arrested three accused while a hunt is on to nab others.

In a similar incident on August 20,  a 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour, who was known to her ‘husband’ in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh.

Traumatised by what happened to her, the victim decided to go to her friend’s house in a nearby village instead of going to her mother’s place.

On the way to her friend’s place in the night, a home guard on a motorcycle saw the victim on the road and offered help showing his identity card. The home guard identified as Ashok Chakravarthy told the girl that he is a police officer.

Later, instead of helping the victim, the home guard took her to his friend’s house and confined her for nearly 20 days and raped her.

The Tenali police have now arrested the three men including her neighbour Naveen and home guard Ashok for raping the girl. The girl was traced after her mother filed a missing person’s complaint.
