President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera is set to appoint 12 new High Court Judges as one way of speeding up justice delivery in the country, faceofmalawi can reveal.
Judiciary spokesperson Agnes Patemba confirmed of the development in an interview with the press on Tuesday.
According to Patemba, the proposed names of the said Judges have already been sent to the Judicial Service Commission for consideration.
“I can confirm that list of the Judges to be considered for the High Court post has been sent to Judicial Service and will soon be sent to the President for approval,” said Patemba.
Several cases are gathering dust in the courts in the country due to lack of enough Judges.
