Man beaten to death for stealing cellphone

An angry mob in Mulanje has killed a young man identified as Ronald Kuopa for allegedly stealing a Cellphone.

According to reports Mr Chisankho Kuipa the brother to the deceased from Magombo ,T/A Mkanda D in Mulanje district is the one who confirmed and reported to police about the death.

Reports from Mulanje Police further indicates that the event occured on 20 September during night hours at Namasaloma village.

It is said that during the time the deceased snatched a cellphone from a certain woman and run away.

The woman together with her husband managed to shout for help and members from the general public managed to arrest the deceased and beat him to death.

The angry mob who assisted the victim later set the deceased on fire.

Postmortem conducted at Mulanje district hospital revealed that the death was due to several loss of blood.

Meanwhile, police in the district have warned people against taking laws in their hands and no arrest has been made so far.
