Man murders wife in Mzimba

Police in Mzimba are hunting for Mlonyeni Shaba, 33, for allegedly killing his 32 year old wife, Constance Jere, on Tuesday at Embangweni in the district.

Mzimba Police Spokesperson, Sub Inspector Peter Botha, said Shaba accused his wife of having a love affair with another man in the same area.

Botha said the two on Tuesday night picked up a quarrel over the issue, and in the process,
Jere told her husband that she was going to her home village.

“Upon hearing that his wife intended to leave him for home village, Shaba said he will escort her,” Botha explained.

He said when the two had just walked few meters away from their house, Shaba hacked his wife in the head and she died on the spot.

“After the incident, Shaba fled the area and we have mounted a search for him and once arrested he will answer a murder charge,” he said.

Jere hailed from Sipotwane Village whilst Shaba is of Matemanga Village both in the area of Traditional Authority (TA) Mzukuzuku in Mzimba.
