Mybucks Bank donates K1.5m towards Bankers conference

MyBucks banking has contributed K1.5 million towards this year’s Bankers conference to be held at Amaryllis Hotel in Blantyre and online from 8 to 9 October 2020 under the theme ‘Surviving the VUCA World: The Age of Business Mavericks’.

MyBucks Head of Retail and SME Banking, Mayamiko Kalizang’oma said the bank has partnered with eth Institute of Bankers in Malawi (IOBM) on the conference as one way of playing an active role in propelling the right discussions that will be beneficial to the bank’s clients and the country at large.

“As a forward looking bank , we realize that we are all living and operating in an environment that is characterized by accelerated change fueled from all fronts – whether be it technological, social, economic, legal and political.

“In turn, customers’ needs are changing at a higher rate than ever before. We believe that through this conference, possibilities will be unlocked for businesses to adapt quickly to this ever changing environment,” said Kalizang’oma.

Kalizang’oma disclosed that apart from, k1.5 million sponsorship, the bank has also bought seats for some of its customers and staff so that they benefit from the fruitful conversations and discussions that will emanate from this conference.

In her remarks, IOBM Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Lyness Nkungula, asserted that the year 2020 has taught the players in the trade to adapt to new norms in this ever changing global environment in order to survive and stay afloat.

It is against this background that IOBM settled for this theme: Surviving the VUCA world: The age of business mavericks.”

She further hinted that business models are to be changed in order for organizations to survive, observing that “it is no longer business as usual; it is the survival of the fittest.”
