Boat capsizes in Lusa River in Kasungu, four people killed

In Kasungu four people have drowned after the boat they were using to cross Lusa river capsized.The incident occurred on the night of October 6, 2020.

The four have been identified as Ellen Chigaso, 38, Msiyani Banda, 39, James Patrick, 16 and Yotamu Mbunga, 17.

Facts are that, last night, at around 20 30hrs the four were going to Lisunda Alliance One Estate to attend a funeral of a relative. The four upon reaching Lusa river, they boarded a boat to take them to the other side of the river and unfortunately the boat they were using capsized and all of them got drowned.

Postmortem conducted showed that deaths occurred due to suffocation.

The deceased hailed from Sinde village, traditional authority Chidzuma in Kasungu district.
