Ernest William Chambers is an American politician who represents North Omaha’s 11th District in the Nebraska State Legislature. He was born July 10, 1937 in Omaha, Nebraska, U.S.

Ernest Chambers is the longest-serving state senator in Nebraska history. He is the only African-American to have run for governor and the first to have run for U.S. Senate in Nebraska history. He is an atheist.

His father was a pastor for the church of God in Christ, Ernest Chambers earned his bachelor’s degree in history in 1959 and finished law school in the same University in 1979. He is currently serving as the. Senator since 2013 till date.

In 2007, Ernest Chambers sued God to court, his lawsuit sought a permanent injunction ordering God to stop certain harmful acts and also the making of terroristic threats.

He believed his defendant God, is guilty of causing floods, earthquakes, hurricanes, terrifying tornadoes, plagues, devastating droughts, wars, birth defects and so on.

The matter was given close attention as Chambers and God were given a date to appear in court, In August 2008, an empty table was reserved for God and God’s attorney. The judge, Marlon Polk dismissed the lawsuit from Chambers because God’s home address was not listed which made it impossible to summon.

Ernest Chambers claimed that God is omniscient and doesn’t need to be served as he must have known.

Though the court remained firm on their decision, Ernest Chambers still maintained that the court should be required to hear a case no matter how frivolous it might be. “Anyone can sue who they choose, even God” according to him.

Ernest Chambers is believed to be the first man to sue God to court, though the case couldn’t move forward due to no home address, he still believes that anyone can sue who they choose to, even God.
