Man arrested for defiling 11 year old girl in Chikwawa: Victim admitted at hospital after heavy bleeding

A 38 year old man is in police custody in Chikwawa for allegedly defiling a 11 year old girl who is currently admitted at Chikwawa District Hospital.

Police in Chikwawa have confirmed of the development in a statement made available to faceofmalawi and identified the suspect as Renald Kanyama.

The fact of the matter is that on October 20, 2020, the victim’s father together with his second wife left for other businesses.

“They had left the victim at home. Later the daughter decided to go back to her biological mother at Nchalo so she left by foot without the knowledge of her father.

“On the way she met the suspect who had offered her a ride on his bicycle,” reads in part the police report.

Added the report: “Then the suspect had suddenly diverted into the near by bush with the victim where he defiled her. Later the suspect took the victim and dumped her on the road where some well wishers found her while bleeding heavily from her private parts. She had narrated her ordeal to them who arrested the suspect and took both the victim and the suspect to Chikwawa police station where the victim was referred to Chikwawa district hospital.”

“Currently the victim is admitted to Chikwawa district hospital awaiting medical examination and treatment as the suspect is under police custody at Chikwawa police station.”

The suspect will soon appear in court over the matter.
