Senzo Meyiwa Murder: Mother implicates girlfriend in son’s brutal murder, accuses police of cover-up

Nthombifuthi Meyiwa, the mother of slain South African footballer Senzo Meyiwa, has delivered an explosive interview with Newzroom Afrika implicating her late son’s girlfriend, Kelly Khumalo in the murder of the late captain of Bafana Bafana.

This revelation comes after five suspects were arrested and appeared in court on Tuesday in connection with the murder of Senzo Meyiwa.

Initially, advocate Gerrie Nel publicly stated that he believes a “hit” had taken place.

But now, the victim’s mother, Mrs Meyiwa went even further during the recent interview on Monday evening saying police are trying to cover-up the real killer by holding the five suspects as those behind the killing of the late footballer.

Mrs Meyiwa further claims South Africa Police Service has divided itself into two factions, both are fighting each other and delaying the investigation in the case.

The South African publication reports that the interview Nthombifuthi gave was heart-wrenching, if not eye-opening. But she’s still confident of securing a conviction:

“The police are already implicating an innocent person who is in prison and forced to tell lies. They’re making him claim to be Senzo’s killer because he is already convicted. It is lies to say the gun that killed him has been found. It is the people who were in the house on the night he died who must tell the truth. What they are doing is very painful.”

“Senzo, whereever you are, let your spirit speak for itself. You know who shot you. You know their name. We are tired of being taken for a ride because we have no money. Senzo’s child is not attending schoo. No-one is helping, no-one cares. Wake up from your grave and fight this battle, Senzo – the time has come.”

“The tears we are crying are nothing compared to the joy that is yet to come.”

On Tuesday,  the five accused men were led into the courtroom but refused to comply, arguing they did not commit the crime and police were using them to protect those actually responsible for killing Meyiwa.

One of the suspects claims they were arrested back in August while another has told the court they want the media present to capture what he calls the thuggery in this murder case.

Accused number four said he didn’t see the need for a lawyer because he didn’t kill the Bafana captain.

The suspects have been named as Muzikawukhulelwa S’themba Sibiya, Bongani Sandiso Ntanzi, Mthobisi Prince Mncube, Mthokoziseni Ziphozonke Maphosa, Sifokuhle Nkani Ntuli.

Senzo Robert Meyiwa was a South African professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper for Orlando Pirates in the Premier Soccer League, and for the South Africa national team. He was shot and killed in a robbery on 26 October 2014 in girlfriend, Kelly Khumalo’s house.
