Zodwa Wabantu hits back at critics for kissing fans

South African media personality, Zodwa Wabantu, is one of those celebrities who had absolutely no down time during the lockdown period, as she always kept her eye on the prize. As always, the entertainer is ready for the next party, and is said to be booked well into 2021. In an Instagram post on Wednesday, 4 November 2020, Zodwa let her followers know that she is not slowing down in the slightest, and encouraged others to follow suit and continue to book her as they would not be left disappointed.

The video showed he listing the dates that she has already been booked, making sure that everyone knows that she is a busy lady! Zodwa went on to thank her fans for their constant support, and acknowledged those who questioned her work and what she does for a living. She stated, “I know there are some people who don’t know what I am doing. I also don’t care. I love my people and I am the life of every party. So, you should book Zodwa Wabantu because you will find that your place will become famous and trending because I am the hottest thing in South Africa. No doubt about it.”

In a separate video, Zodwa addressed the backlash she has been getting for her recent appearances, which saw crowds of people touching and kissing her. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the public has raised their concern regarding Zodwa’s behaviour as she has not followed social distancing protocol whilst at any of her shows. The performer has gone as far as kissing people on the lips whilst on stage, which is a direct breach of the rules and regulations stipulated by President Cyril Ramaphosa.

She stated, “Guys, whether you touch me or whether you do whatever to me when I am on stage, I don’t have a problem with that. But, how it looks to the public and to the people who are not there… they just see the videos.” Zodwa went on to explain that the public has misconstrued her performances as a place where the audience has had full access to touching her private areas. She clarified that whenever she doesn’t feel comfortable with what is going on whilst she is on stage, she makes a point of stepping away and removing herself from the situation. She wanted to let her fans know that although she has been receiving backlash for their behaviour at her shows, she still loves them and would like if they continue to show her their support.
