State House speaks out on Bushiri’s fate

State House has said President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera will not be involved in any issue to do with Prophet Shepherd Bushiri of Enlighten Christian Gathering (ECG) church who has fled South Africa.

Chakwera Executive Assistant Sean Kampondeni said this during a weekly presser currently underway at Kamuzu Palace in the capital Lilongwe.

“President Lazarus Chakwera will not be involved, will not hold a meeting with any individual in relation to the [Bushiri] issue and will not grant any favours or issue directives. President Chakwera will let law enforcers do their job in accordance with the law,” said Chakwera.

Kampondeni has trashed the rumours hovering on the social media that President Chakwera’s plane was used as a conduit to whisk away Bushiri and his wife Mary.

Meanwhile debate continues on the social media as to who Bushiri found himself in Malawi without travel documents.
