World’s Most Expensive Bar of Soap Is Made with Gold and Diamond Powder, Costs $2,800

A small family-owned factory that has been making soap since the 15th century sells claims to sell the world’s most expensive bar of soap, at $2,800.

The Khan Al Saboun brand of handmade soap created by Bader Hassen & Sons, a soap factory in Tripoli, Lebanon, makes a variety of luxury soaps and skincare products containing essential oils and natural fragrances. They are sold in some of the most exclusive shops in Dubai and the UAE, but its most expensive product is only offered to special guests and important personalities. First made in 2013, as a unique gift to Qatar’s first lady, the world’s most expensive bar of soap contains gold and diamond powder and reportedly costs $2,800.

What originally looked like a very expensive piece of cheese, has now been refined by Bader Hassen & Sons. In a viral video showing company CEO Amir Hasen offering the world’s most expensive bar of soap to Bahraini actress and Instagram superstar Shaila Sabt, you can see that the bar of soap is now handcrafted to spell the recipient’s name and plated with 24-karat gold.

Back in 2015, when the BBC first featured the world’s most expensive bar of soap, it was reported that the luxurious product had a rough texture, because of the diamond and gold powder, but Amir Hasen said it doesn’t hurt the skin, and described using it as a delight for the senses.

“That kind of soap changes your shower from daily routine to a pleasure,” Hasen said. “It’s not only the most expensive soap in the world because it’s only made of gold and diamond, it’s really something special, it has a psychological and spiritual effect on human being.”

According to Al-Ain, the world’s most expensive bar of soap contains 17 grams of 24-karat gold, a few grams of diamond powder, pure olive oil, organic honey, aged oud and dates. It’s not clear if it’s only offered to certain people, or if anyone can order it.
