75-year-old Priest converts to Muslim, after being Priest for 30 years

After serving Christianity for 30 years, a 75-year-old Swedish Priest, Leif Skjetne has converted to Islam, changing his name from Leif to Ahmed.

According to Yeni Asya in March this year, Mr. Leif Skjetne who has served as a priest for 30 years in Jönköping, Sweden announced that he has converted his religion into Islam at age 75.

According to PARADISE NEWS learnt that the former priest, sold all his property and settled in Morocco, and changed his name to Ahmed as well.

He was inspired by an 18-year-old Muslim refugee by name, Abdullah, who lived with him.

In a statement with Swedish Dagens Newspaper, Skjetne said “I’ve been in Morocco since last ten years, I changed my name as Ahmed. Then I decided to become a Muslim last month”.

Continuing, he said: “I presented my resignation to the Swedish Church Association. In 2015, I had taken all the care of a Moroccan refugee boy at the age of 18 in Sweden and from then on my life has changed a lot with him”.

Skjetne who in turn sold all of his possessions, added that, “The Moroccan refugee boy was deported from Sweden in 2018, thereon I decided to settle in Morocco after him. At the beginning I didn’t think about becoming a Muslim, I had changed only my name to Ahmed because I was settled in Morocco. And two years later, I decided to become a Muslim upon researching it”.

Mr. Skjetne further stated that he had sold all his property in Sweden, and he would spend the rest of his life in Morocco.
