Juvenile Murders 17-Year-Old Boy After Fight Over Facebook Photo

In a shocking incident of crime involving minors, a 17-year-old boy died after being attacked by a 16-year-old boy and his friends in Jabalpur district of Madhya Pradesh on Saturday. The incident took place after the victim, identified as Krishna (17) of Bapu Nagar, fought with the 16-year-old accused for posting a photo of his minor sister on social media, police said.

According to the police, the 16-year-old boy had uploaded a photo of Krishna’s sister on Facebook.  Though it was a “normal photo”, Krishna took offence and fought with the boy some days ago. The latter asked Krishna to come near Karondi Railway line for settling the matter on Saturday.

“When Krishna reached the place with his cousin brother, the accused was standing with his three other friends. They had a heated argument for uploading the photo. One of the accused hit Krishna with an iron bangle. All four accused beat him up and attacked his leg with a sharp-edged weapon. Krishna fainted on the road. The accused fled from the spot,” a report by Hindustan Times quoted Jabalpur SP Siddharth Bahuguna as saying.

Krishna’s cousin sought help from passersby and called up an ambulance and alerted the local police. He was taken to a private hospital nearby. The medics there referred him to another facility, where he succumbed late Saturday.

Based on a complaint filed by Krishna’s father, police booked the four accused, all teenagers, for murder under IPC Section 302 and detained two of them. The duo has confessed to the crime, the SP said.
