Hotel Staff Beaten To Death For Demanding Salary

A man was allegedly beaten to death by his employer and colleagues in Gurugram when he demanded his salary. The 30-year-old man used to work as a cook at a hotel named Cyber Inn. The victim was provided with food and lodging at the hotel.

The police did not register an FIR and none of the accused was arrested. The victim was identified as Hoshiyar Singh. A native of Bulandshahr, Singh had been living at a rented accommodation in Rajiv Nagar.

At around 2 am on Friday, Singh’s elder brother Umesh Kumar got a call from a person named Pintu, who hails from the same village as them. The man said that Singh was first taken to Civil Hospital in Sector 10 and was referred to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. The man succumbed to his injuries on Sunday night, The Times of India reported.

Singh’s body was handed over to his family members after an autopsy. Singh was employed at the hotel around two months ago but had not been paid for the same. When he asked for his salary, Singh was allegedly beaten up by the owner and colleagues. The man sustained injuries on his head and other parts of the body.

Surendra Singh, SHO of the Sector 14 police station, said that Singh’s statement could not be recorded at the Safdarjung Hospital as he was not in a stable condition. A case was registered under section 323 (causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The cops added section 302 (murder) to the complaint after the man died.
