UPDATE: Dr Dre Says He’s ‘Doing Great’ After Reported Brain Aneurism

Dr Dre has posted on Instagram to reassure fan he’s ‘doing great’ following reports of a brain aneurism.

Dre, whose real name is Andre Young, was reportedly rushed into a Los Angeles hospital on Monday night after a suffering an aneurism.

According to TMZ, Dre, 55, was reported to be ‘stable and lucid’ when he was taken to hospital.

In an update on Instagram, Dre said he was being well looked after and receiving ‘excellent’ care.

But he didn’t say why he was in hospital.

The post, which was accompanied by a photo of him in a music studio, read: “Thanks to my family, friends and fans for their interest and well wishes.

“I’m doing great and getting excellent care from my medical team. I will be out of the hospital and back home soon.

“Shout out to all the great medical professionals at Cedars. One Love!!”

Well-wishes have flooded in for Dre, with rapper and actor Ice Cube urging his fans to ‘send your love and prayers to the homie Dr Dre.’

Snoop Doog said: “Get well Dr Dre. We need you cuz.”

While Missy Elliot wrote: “Prayers up for Dr Dre and his family for healing and strength over his mind & body.”

Dre rose to fame as part of the legendary rap group NWA in the 1980s and went on to become a key figure in the 1990s West Coast rap scene.

He went on to produce hits for Eminem, Snoop Dogg and Tupac and has picked up a whopping seven Grammys over the years.

He also created Beats Electronics, of which the wildly popular Beats by Dre headphones were a part of. Alongside this, he also launched a streaming service Beats Music.

Apple bought both Beats Electronic and Beats Music in 2014 for $3 billion.
