Shmurda Set For Release After Serving More Than Six Years Behind Bars

Brooklyn rapper Bobby Shmurda (real name Ackquille Pollard) could be leaving prison next month, after serving more than 6 years in jail.

Police officials have announced that Bobby Shmurda could be leaving prison next month, after being sent to jail for conspiracy and weapons possession at the Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora in upstate New York.

Shmurda was up for parole in September but was denied as a result of disciplinary actions for his behavior while in prison.

He is now eligible for release on Feb. 23. and will serve the rest of his sentence on parole through Dec. 11, the New York Police department has announced.

The “Hot N—a” rapper has been serving time since Dec. 2014, when he was initially charged with conspiracy to murder, weapons possession and reckless endangerment.

He was sentenced to seven years in prison after accepting a deal to plead guilty to 4th-degree conspiracy and 2nd-degree criminal weapons possession.

The Manhattan Supreme Court sentencing was characterized by drama, with Pollard reportedly saying,

“I was forced to take this sentence, I did not want to take this sentence. I was forced by my attorney to take this plea.”

Back in 2018, Shmurda dialed into This is 50 for a phone interview where he spoke about his possible release in 2020.

“When I get out, we’re going to f— everything up. I got two years, 2020,” the 26-year-old rapper said at the time. “You know how that sh– goes. I like to see real n—as doing their thing with more constructive sh–. I hope a lot of motherf—ers learn from me.”
