San Diego Woman Killed After Storming The Capitol Building Was Air Force Vet

Ashli Babbit was killed after storming the Capitol building on Wednesday.

A woman was fatally shot after Trump supporters stormed the US Capitol building.

The woman has been identified as Ashli Babbit of San Diego: a 14-year-veteran who served four tours with the US Air Force. According to Fox 5, the shooting had been reported after 3 p.m “as the situation escalated inside and outside of the Capitol building when Congress began counting the Electoral College votes.” Babbit was shot in the chest and transported to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead. On the day before she was shot, the woman had tweeted “Nothing will stop us” and “the storm is here.”

Babbit’s family commented on the incident.

Speaking to the New York Post, Babbit’s mother-in-law Robin said that the family had not been informed of Babbit’s death. “I’m numb. I’m devastated. Nobody from DC notified my son and we found out on TV,” she said. “She is a Trump supporter.” Babbit’s brother-in-law Jason also shared, “It’s hard, because we haven’t been officially notified.” According to Fox 5’s Lindsay Watts, Robin Babbit could not understand why her daughter-in-law had decided to storm the US Capitol. “I really don’t know why she decided to do this,” she confessed.

The following footage depicts the moment Babbit was shot inside the Capitol building.
