State House weekly briefing canceled due to COVID-19

State House has canceled the  first edition of the State House Brief which was scheduled for Monday the 11th January 2021 due to prevalent problems of Covid 19.

State House Press Officer Brian Banda has confirmed of the development in a statement made available to faceofmalawi.

According to Banda, the briefing will only resume when the situation normalizes in the country.

“State House would like to inform media practitioners and members of the general public that the first edition of the State House Brief which was scheduled for Monday the 11th January 202 has been postponed due to prevalent problems of Covid 19,” reads in part the statement.

On Sunday, President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera ordered Ministry of Homeland Security and the Ministry of Health to deploy security officers in the street to help in enforcing COVID-19 measures.

The order came following a  surge on COVID-19 cases in the country.
