President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera is set to address Malawians following a surge in COVID-19 fatalities in the country.
State House Press Officer Brian Banda has confirmed of the development in a statement made available to the press.
“President Lazarus Chakwera is safe from Covid-19 and will address the nation at 4pm today,” said Banda in an interview with the press.
The address comes following the deaths of two Cabinet Ministers namely Lingson Belekanyama, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Muhammad Sidik Mia, who until his death was Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Vice President.
The two succumbed to COVID-19.
