21 Students Test Positive For Covid-19 at Umbwi Secondary School In Dedza

At least 21 students have tested positive for Coronavirus at Umbwi Secondary School in Dedza district.

This is after the Covid-19 test was done to 33 students. Out of the ones found positive, three are girls while 18 are boys.

District Health Office spokesperson, Mwai Liabunya, says Covid-19 testing is underway in other boarding schools.

Meanwhile, Umbwi Secondary School Headteacher, Bernard Bua, says, despite a government directive that all students in boarding schools should remain in schools, over 400 of the schools 500 plus learners have gone back home after their parents came to pick them.

As of yesterday, Dedza had 64 active Covid-19 cases and does not include figures on students tested this far.
