CoM donates 700 beds and Mattresses to govt

College of Medicine has donated 700 beds and 700 mattresses to the Ministry of Health through Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital and Kamuzu Central Hospital respectively. This is in response to the surge in COVID-19 cases which has resulted in the acute need for beds.

Speaking during the handover ceremony of the beds and mattresses at BICC, Minister of Health Hon. khumbize Kandodo Chiponda MP said this is a huge milestone towards the fight against the pandemic.

She said the donation is timely as it has come at a time when the government has rolled up the field hospital initiative.

On his part, COM Acting Principal Professor Mac Mallewa said the institution will continue assisting the ministry in the fight against the pandemic.
