An 18-year-old pupil and her 33-year-old mother have appeared in court in the neighboring Zambia for court.
The mother Elizabeth Chinyama is said to have supplied her daughter with drugs and instruments which were used to procure the abortion.
The pregnancy was between six and eight months.
It is alleged that the girl on December 31, last year at Lusaka with intent to procure her own miscarriage unlawfully administered to herself a noxious thing.
Allegations are Chinyama on December 31, 2020 willfully procured a noxious thing, knowing that it was intended to be unlawfully used to procure the miscarriage of a child.
The duo, who appeared before Lusaka chief resident magistrate Lameck Mwale, had their case allocated to magistrate Nsunge Chanda but they could not take plea because the magistrate was not available.
The case will be back in court soon.
