DPP consoles JB over death of her son Geoffrey Kachale Banda

Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has consoled former President Dr. Joyce Banda following the death of her son Geoffrey Kachale Banda.

Banda’s son died of COVID-19 on Wednesday at Bingu National Stadium (BNS) field hospital and he was laid to rest on Thursday at area 18 cemetery in the capital Lilongwe.

In a statement released on Thursday made available to faceofmalawi, the party said it is saddened with the death of Banda’s son.

“The President, Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, leadership and the entire membership of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), wish to extend our heartfelt condolences to Former President of the Republic of Malawi, HE Dr. Joyce Banda and her entire family on the untimely death of her beloved first born son Geoffrey Kachale who succumbed to COVID-19 on Wednesday, February 3, 2020.

“The entire DPP family is mourning with you,” reads in part the statement singed by DPP spokesperson Brown Mpinganjira.

Geoffrey Kachale survived by a wife and four children.
