‘No Positive Covid-19 Case In Schools So Far’ – Minister NyaLonje

Education Minister Agnes Nyalonje says the country’s schools did not register any positive Covid-19 cases in the first wave of the pandemic.

Presenting a ministerial statement in Parliament, Nyalonje says her ministry has received K5 billion from government for preparing schools in readiness for reopening in the second wave of the pandemic.

She says the money will be used for recruitment of teachers, buying tents and construction of low cost classrooms, among others to decongest classes.

She says so far, her ministry has released K1.14 billion of the K5 billion.

She says procurement of tents has faced some delays due to overwhelming demand of the tents.
