Mulanje Senior Resident Magistrate Court on Tuesday sentenced Rashid Mwazani, 27, to 15 years imprisonment after the court found him guilty of defiling a six year-old girl.
as Police in the district have arrested another man aged 33 for defiling 11 year old step daughter.
Mwazani comes from Chenkhuku Village in Senior Chief Chikumbu’s area in Mulanje where he committed the offence in December, last year.
The court heard that the girl went to an entertainment show within the village where Mwazani was entrusted with the role of controlling people to ensure sanity.
Mwazani went to answer the call of nature and while there, he found the girl also answering to the same call and he then forcefully had sex with her right in the toilet and threatened her not to reveal,” the court heard.
Despite the threats, the girl revealed Mwazan’s act to her parents who reported the issue to police that later apprehended and charged him with an offence of defilement contrary to Section 138 of the Penal Code.
He however, pleaded not guilty to the charge before the Mulanje Senior Resident Magistrate, Shahida Hannif Bakili.
After cross examination the court found him guilty and eventually convicted and sentenced him to 15 years imprisonment as the magistrate condemned the act.
