There have been revelations that AstraZeneca Vaccine is on high in the commercial city of Blantyre as a lot of people are flocking to the vaccination centers to get their first jab.
After government announced that it has secured the vaccine form India earlier this year, there were fears that people will not get vaccinated following the myth that surrounded the vaccine.
Exactly after two weeks President Lazarus Chakwera launched the roll out of the AstraZeneca Vaccine, health authorities in Blantyre have disclosed that there is a rising demand for the AstraZeneca Covid 19 Vaccine by the general public.
Dr. Gift Kawalazira, Director of Health and Social Services for Blantyre has said that since the rollout; the demand for the vaccine has increased and currently over 12 thousand people have been vaccinated in the district.
According to Dr. Kawalazira, currently Blantyre is administering second phase of the vaccination campaign which is targeting the old aged, social workers as well as those with underlying health conditions.
He has however expressed concerns with lack of interests from other stakeholders to come in and assist in awareness campaigns towards administration of the Covid-19 Vaccine.
